Release: JMatPro Version 14.0 and API Version 8.0

Easily calculate material properties of alloys - JMatPro helps to reduce material and energy costs in industrial practice

JMatPro® is the simulation software with which a wide range of properties of technical alloys can be easily calculated. The solution has been highly valued in industry and research for years due to its ease of use and solid results for practical applications. With the new version 14, the already versatile possibilities of JMatPro® have been significantly expanded once again with a focus on steel and aluminium. The optimisation of alloys and manufacturing processes as well as the generation of consistent material cards for FEM simulation can make a significant contribution to reducing material and energy costs.

JMatPro® is not a database for the variety of commercially available alloys, but a sophisticated simulation program with which the properties of the materials can be determined precisely, accurately and quickly. This enables optimisation within the sometimes wide analysis ranges of technical materials. The system is based on solid materials science principles and utilises CalPhaD (Calculation of Phase Diagrams), which is also known from other systems, as a basis. Based on calculations of phase equilibria and kinetic transformations, physically based models are used to determine a large number of technically relevant material properties, such as density and strength, on a composition-specific basis. A unique feature of JMatPro® is the reduction in complexity: every engineer who needs material data for their tasks in product and process development and associated optimisation steps can work productively quickly without lengthy training. JMatPro® is therefore also very suitable for occasional users.

The simplicity of the application and the speed with which consistent results can be achieved is the basis for the successful processing of practical issues:

  • What effect does a newly delivered batch have on process stability and product properties?
  • How can delivery specifications be adapted to optimise processes, energy and costs?
  • What influence does the wide range of properties and chemical composition with the same material designations have on the FEM calculation results?

The success of JMatPro® on the market among material producers, plant engineers and product and process developers in the manufacturing industry is based on the fact that the required information can be determined quickly, easily and consistently with JMatPro®. The time and effort required for complex material tests and searching for data can be significantly reduced in many cases.

Version 14 of JMatPro®, which was released at the end of September, contains a large number of technical innovations and enhancements. With regard to the underlying material science models, back diffusion, solidification, precipitation kinetics, creep and homogenisation have been revised and expanded. The CAE interfaces ANSYS, COMSOL, SimHEAT and InspireCast have been supplemented and adapted. At the same time as the new version, the programming interface (API) has also been extended so that JMatPro® calculations can be integrated even better into third-party systems. Technical details can be found on the Matplus website. “With the new version 14 of JMatPro®, many enhancement requests from the last user meetings in Wuppertal have been successfully implemented - JMatPro® thus continues to focus on direct added value for industrial practice,” confirms Dr Uwe Diekmann, Managing Director of Matplus GmbH.
